Boko lost because BCP didn’t want him-Healy

Member of Parliament for Gaborone Central Tumisang Magwegape Healy told Parliament recently that part of the reasons Duma Boko received a humiliating defeat during the 2019 General Elections is because the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) which makes a part of the parties in collision in the Umbrella For Democratic Change (UDC) did not want him.

Healy who was responding to President Mokgweetsi Masisi’s State of National Address at Parliament denounced the idea that Boko did not get the majority vote due to the alleged vote rigging rather they were having in fights among themselves at the UDC.

According to Healy, Annah Mokgethi, claimed a seat in Parliament because some of the BCP members expressed misgivings about Boko.

“Part of the reason or some of the people
who have declared that they voted for Mokgethi were members of the BCP, they said they will not vote for Advocate Duma Boko, they were very categorical about that.”

Bringing more evidence as to why he put the blame on the BCP for Boko political tragedy, the Gaborone Central legislator further informed Parliament that there was a rivalry between Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang and Duma Boko.

“Dr Gobotswang who is also here was aptly called ngaka ya diphaphatha by Advocate Duma Boko,” and for Healy the words uttered cement enough evidence that Duma Boko and his followers in the coalition movement did not get along.

Healy also took time to urge the public to ingnore claims that his political opponent Dr Mpho Pheko is a UDC Parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Central.
“I wish to state that Dr Pheko is not a UDC Parliamentary candidate for Gaborone Central,
she is widely unknown in the constituency and her profile cannot deliver the constituency for the UDC,” Healy.
