The Botswana Netball Association (BONA) which has been operating in shambles has admitted that they will be taking their obstacles head on. Addressing a media brief yesterday in Gaborone, BONA President Malebo Raditladi said that it is a testament that their association has administration problems.
She said that they have been facing problems of debts, lack of league, committee mismanagement and long term strategy implementation. According to Raditladi, the longterm development program that has been developed in partnership with BNSC has not been followed at all.
Raditladi said that now that they have admitted their failed attempts as a committee all that they are hoping for is a better development of BONA. “We are not here to point fingers at all, we are part of the problem that BONA currently finds itself in, part of combating the problem is acknowledging that indeed we have a problem that needs attention,” Raditladi.
BONA has been allegedly fighting a battle of settling debts from the 2017 Youth World Cup that was held in Botswana. According to the BONA team that was addressing the media yesterday, they have been settling the alleged P12million debt with the annual grant that they get from Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC).
BONA confirmed that they have not been able to secure a sponsor for this year’s netball league. The association will be going for a 2 year league absence following Spar withdrawal from sponsoring. On other netball news, Ntebogang Maplanka has been appointed the Marketing Director in the COSANA committee while Malebo Raditladi was appointed the Vice President. This according to the duo will help in gaining as much administrative experience as possible and they will bring it home.
