The ruling Botswana Democratic Party will this weekend light up the village of Rakops. The party is to host its debut elective congress since its reigning victory in the just ended General Elections. The National Youth Wing widely referred to as NYEC will see two of BDP powerhouses in Karabo Gomotsegang and Collen Mochotlhi lead the two lobbylists.
Gomotsegang has since garnered support from the party’s new crop of members. Most people who are openly supporting the Gomotsegang lobbylist include Tshephang Mabaila who was an independent candidate in the 2019 General Elections and was since walloped. Gomotsegang’s team is also made up of former Youth Chairman for Gaborone North Tefo Marumo, he is contesting for the position of Fundraising and Projects.
Collen Mochotlhi who is also a Councillor in Tlokweng is backed by the popular Tony Sebabi in his lobbylist. Sebabi made waves during the campaign trail pricking at people as he made deliberations across the country. Natasha Rabora will be looking to settle for the position of Treasurer under the same lobbylist.
Mochotlhi who is already serving in the outgoing NYEC is already in the village of Rakops setting up camping sites for delegates. Bonolo Ratlhapi who had hinted that he wanted to contest in the same elections has this week revealed that he will not be taking part in the elections as candidate following being notified that one of the people he works closely with in Jwaneng-Mabutsane constituency is contesting under team Collen.
