Women in sport hold conversation

Fan’ Mo Sports Agency in collaboration with Women and Sport Botswana (WASBO) will host the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Women Elect candidates at Botho University, Gaborone on 17 August 2020 at 19:30hrs.

The women candidates will have an intentional conversation for the various positions they are pitted against of Female Additional Member and Ordinary Member under the theme “An Intentional Conversation- Women Football Towards and Beyond The Elections”

Following the formal announcement of the candidates for this year’s BFA elective congress slated for the 22nd of August in Francistown, a record number of women leaders are asking for a seat at the highest table of BFA.

The conversation will be centered around ;

1.    The Women’s game, current status and its potential in the view of each candidate

2.    What the candidates intend to achieve with the position and how

3.    What needs to happen for women to have a significant representation within BFA

4.    Key issues regarding women in sport.

For her part, WASBO Chairperson, Mrs Matlho Kgosi indicated that, this conversation allows them an opportunity to support the women candidates by offerring them a platform to present their leadership qualities, experience and long term plans for the growth of women football and women sport in general.

She further indicated that, WASBO participation in this initiative is deliberate to address key issues for women and sport in relation to the Botswana Gender and Sport Strategy signed during the 7th International Working Group (IWG) World Conference on Women in Sport and also in preparation for the upcoming Women and Sport Pitso to be hosted on 27 August 2020.

The women candidates are Joy Setshedi,Itsholeng Disang; Tsoseletso Magang and Lubito Ncube who are vying for the BFA Female Additional Member position. Theresa Hirchfeld and Kesego Okie are standing for the BFA BFA Ordinary Member position.

Moderators for the conversation will be Karabo Bosena and Mimie Dintwa.
